10 Healthy Haircare Tips

1. Use Sea Breeze Astringent as a pre-shampoo treatment. Sea Breeze will remove excess oils, dirt and dry scalp cuticles from the scalp. It also helping with dry itchy scalp from the cold weather. It will not over dry your scalp making for a more thorough shampoo. Leaving the hair and scalp clean and healthy.

2. Do not shampoo your hair everyday. excessive shampooing will leave the hair dried out and strip hair of their natural oils. Some clients tend to be more oily faster than others. Pay attention to your hair and body. consult with a professional if you need assistance with the frequency that shampooing needs to be done.

3. Avoid shampoos an conditioners with silicones, sulfates and alcohol in them. Silicones are like rubber or plastic that makes a barrier against moisture and air. They coat the hair strands, weigh the hair down leaving it looking greasy and do not shampoo out easily. Sulfates real havoc on the hair shaft, follicles and scalp. Sulfates dissolve all natural oils leaving the hair dry and brittle. Alcohols tend to create dry, frizzy hair that may even roughen the cuticle leaving hair void of any shine.

4. Aways shampoo your hair from the roots to the mid-shaft. This avoids matting and tangling from happening. The ends are cleaned when you are rinsing the shampoo out. Leaving the hair to be easily detangled.

5. Rinse your conditioner out with cold water. Cold water snaps the cuticle shut locking in the beneficial conditioning agents in the hair shaft. Sealing in the moisture and adding super shine to the hair.

6. Don't brush your hair while its wet, it's in it's most fragile state. Wet hair can stretch close to fifty percent its length, making it more susceptible to breakage leaving it frizzy and damaged. Use a wide tooth comb to detangle hair from the ends working your way up to the scalp.

7. Use organic coconut oil to help retain moisture. It can be used daily, a small amount on dry ends works wonders. It can also be use as an overnight pre-shampoo deep conditioner. Coconut oil is lightweight and will shampoo right out leaving the hair soft, moisturized and manageable.

8. Try avoiding heating tools. Heat styling can dry your hair out leading to split ends and breakage. If using hot tools, make sure you use a heat protectant first. Try only curling clean hair to reduce damage.

9. Sleep in and on satin or silk. Use silk or satin scarfs, bonnets and head wraps to maintain your styles. Sleep on satin or silk pillowcases. Cotton zaps the moisture from your hair causing breakage and split ends. Satin or silk reduces friction and allows for your styles to last longer.

10. Eating Right! Last but not least, what goes in, must come out. It all comes out in your hair skin and nails. Healthy hair needs healthy fats. These are found in avocado, pumpkin seeds, edamame, whole grain cereals, chia and flaxseeds, almonds, walnuts, salmon, clams and bell peppers are a few. They all promote thick healthy hair growth.
